LOTTERY WIN PROVIDES 'BEST DAY OFF EVER' IN THAYER
April 17, 2009
A hairdresser from Mammoth Spring, Ark., has claimed a $55,000 Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash jackpot prize, matching all five numbers from the April 9 drawing. Whitney Lavy, 21, learned of her win during a routine day off from work on April 13 - dubbing it “The best day off ever!”

Lavy, a hairdresser at Shear Bliss in Thayer, had bought a few Show Me Cash tickets while on break from the salon to get lunch. She returned to Bobcat Station, 220 E. Walnut St., on the 13th and asked the clerk for help checking numbers on the tickets she had.

“I forgot I had it in my purse,” she said. “But she printed out the paper and one of mine matched.”

“I didn’t believe it at first,” she continued. “The first person I called was my mom. She was really excited.”

Lavy, the game’s 30th winner since it began Sept. 8, 2008, used Quick Pick to allow the computer to choose the numbers randomly for her: 7, 8, 13, 25 and 37. Show Me Cash offers a rolling jackpot that starts at $50,000 and increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing.
