Habtamu Mengesha of Columbia Heights won a $58,941 Northstar Cash jackpot. The second line on the three-line ticket that he purchased for the drawing on April 3 matched all five numbers drawn (3-7-10-14-17) to win the jackpot.

Mengesha claimed the prize at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville on April 15.

Merkato Grocery Store, located at 1900 University Ave. in St. Paul, sold the winning ticket.

The following Northstar Cash jackpot prizes are unclaimed: $28,000 from the drawing on July 16, 2008 (sold in Stearns County) and $44,401 from the drawing on March 15, 2009 (sold in Stearns County). Northstar Cash players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.

To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn.

Northstar Cash drawings are conducted daily after the Daily 3® drawing. Tickets must be purchased by 6:10 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
