HAMPDEN WOMAN ON WINNING STREAK
April 14, 2009
(Baltimore) – It was a weekend full of wins for Sharon Switzer. The 54-year-old Hampden woman began her big streak with a $50 scratch-off win on Friday. “My son gave me money and I decided to buy two scratch-offs,” said Sharon. She took the tickets home where she proceeded to scratch and discover the first $50 prize. “I scratched the second one and nearly had a heart attack,” said Sharon. That’s when she got the largest win of the weekend -- the top prize of $30,000 on the Blackout Bingo scratch-off.

Sharon was still on a roll on Sunday, winning both the midday and evening Pick 3 drawings and taking home another $80. An occasional Lottery player, Sharon’s largest win prior to this past weekend was approximately 12 years ago when she won $1,750.

Currently collecting disability, the appreciative winner also volunteers at The Hampden Family Center, preparing for senior luncheons and other activities. The mother-of-two lives with her 20 and 25-year-old sons. “I want to get a nicer, bigger place for me and my boys with the money,” she said. Sharon also intends to put some of her winnings in the bank.

The winning ticket was purchased at Royal Farm #006, located at 3635 Keswick Rd. in Baltimore City.
