Washington, D.C. – $144,000 Million! That’s what the winning D.C. Lottery POWERBALL ticket for the drawing on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 is worth with a cash option of $79.6 million. And, it was purchased at the Giant, located at 1535 Alabama Avenue, S.E.
The winning numbers for last night’s drawing are 1-6-48-52-56 + 9.
“The D.C. Lottery is very excited that the grand prize POWERBALL jackpot ticket was sold in the District. We are looking forward to meeting the ticketholder(s),” said the D.C. Lottery’s Executive Director Jeffrey “Jay” Young, who also reminds players to check their tickets carefully, as there are nine ways to win with POWERBALL.
In fact, another ticket sold in the District is worth $10,000. It was sold at 7-11, 1101 South Capitol Street, S.W.
The ticketholders have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. The D.C. Lottery’s Claim Center is located in the Frank D. Reeves Building at 2000 14th Street, N.W., Lobby Level. It’s open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
