ATLANTA – A lucky chance turned out a half-million dollar instant win for a Cartersville custodian. Bobbie Banks, 60, won $500,000 playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Diamonds & Gold.
She stopped at Shell Food Mart, 1444 U.S. Highway 41 N. in Calhoun, to buy the ticket and scratched it in the store.
"I screamed," the great-grandmother of four recalled. "My friend had to help me out of the store. I thought I was going to pass out."
Banks, who has worked for a local janitorial service for two years, is feeling great about her lottery win. She has five adult children and 21 grandchildren.
"I'm going to buy a new house and help family members," she exclaimed.
