ATLANTA – A Marietta man is celebrating a half-million dollar lottery win. James Booth, 62, won a $500,000 top prize playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Jumbo Jumbo Bucks.
Booth was visiting family in Ellijay when he stopped at Dollar DAWG at Walker’s Corner, 2179 Highway 52 E. in Ellijay, and purchased a ticket. The first win netted a $100 prize, so he purchased another ticket and scratched it just outside of the store.
He was shocked at what he'd discovered.
"It was just unreal," said Booth, who had his older brother and son in tow. "I hollered and shouted."
The lucky lottery winner considers his win "special" because he was with family when he won.
"My brother is real proud of me, and my son is just tickled," he said.
Booth intends to share his prize with his adult son, Keith.
"We're going to enjoy this together," he exclaimed.
