SACRAMENTO – Barbara Gaines, 70, claimed $107,992. She plans to put part of her winnings toward Girl Scouts and dancing lessons for her grand-daughter. She also hopes to develop her grandson’s passion for music with a new horn and clarinet.
“I have always thought, a winning ticket has to be out there somewhere,” Gaines said. During her normal routine of preparing dinner, Gaines took a break to watch the daily Fantasy 5 numbers. “The numbers came up . . . 1 . . . 2 . . . 3, and I thought, neat I won $17. But then I saw I hit all five. I screamed so loud, I know my neighbors heard me.”
While Gaines did not spell out exactly what else the rest of the money would be put toward, she said, “I’ll definitely have my grand-daughter in mind.”
The ticket was purchased at Tony’s Chevron, which is located at 2960 West Broadway Street in Los Angeles, near Glendale. The winning numbers were 3, 11, 29, 34, and 39.
