SUFFOLK MAN WINS $150,000 ON FRIDAY THE 13TH

When the clerk in his favorite store mentioned something about winning a large prize in the Virginia Lottery, Donald Geer of Suffolk replied, “No, I can’t ever get that lucky.”
But he was wrong.
Mr. Geer bought two Money Mania tickets and scratched them. The first won $5. The second won the game’s top prize of $150,000. And if that wasn’t lucky enough, it all happened on Friday the 13th!
“I’ll never call that day bad again!” he told Lottery officials when he claimed his prize.
He bought the winning ticket at Bennetts Creek Shell, located at 3701 Bridge Road in Suffolk.
Mr. Geer, who works as a shipyard mechanic, is the second player to win $150,000 in the Money Mania game. That means there are four top-prize-winning tickets yet to be claimed. He said he intends to use his winnings to pay bills and buy his wife a new car.
