LITTLE FALLS COUPLE WINS $66,507 NORTHSTAR CASH® PRIZE

Dean and Bonnie Brown of Little Falls won a $66,507 Northstar Cash prize. The ticket that they had purchased for the Feb. 23 drawing was one of two tickets that matched all five numbers drawn (8-11-16-18-31) to split the $133,014 jackpot.
The other half of the jackpot was claimed by a group of 10 who work together in Bloomington.
The Browns did not know that they won until March 3 when they stopped at a store to purchase milk. Dean asked the store employee to check some lottery tickets that he had and when the Feb. 23 Northstar Cash ticket was scanned “another ticket popped out that said we had won over $30,000,” Dean explained.
“He came out to the car in a daze and I asked if we had won something,” said Bonnie. “He said, ‘Yeah, we won something and we have to go to Lottery headquarters to claim it.’ I couldn’t believe it — my heart started beating fast!”
The couple claimed the prize at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville on March 5.
Casey’s General Store, located at 500 W. Broadway in Little Falls, sold the Browns’ winning ticket.
A Northstar Cash ticket worth $28,000 for the drawing on July 16, 2008 (sold in Stearns County) and a ticket worth $40,360 for the drawing on Jan. 28, 2009 (sold in Hennepin County) have not been claimed. Players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim all prizes.
To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn.
