KANSAS CITY, KAN. RESIDENT WINS $6,000 PLAYING $1 GAME

TOPEKA, KAN. – Yesterday afternoon, Janet Schoff of Kansas City, Kan. walked down to a nearby convenience store where she visited with the store clerk and played a few instant scratch tickets. The 69-year-old couldn’t believe her luck when she revealed a $6,000 top prize playing a $1 Triple Tripler instant scratch ticket.
“The gal behind the counter gave me a seat, so I could sit down, because I was winded from my walk to the store,” said Schoff. “As we were visiting, I scratched the tickets I’d bought. When I realized I’d won $6,000, I couldn’t get out of my chair.”
According to Schoff, she called a neighbor from the store and asked her to come down.
“When I called my neighbor, I told her to hurry and get over here,” said Schoff. “I didn’t tell her I’d won on a lottery ticket and she thought something was wrong.”
After rushing into the store, Schoff’s neighbor quickly realized it was good news, not bad news.
“She was so happy for me,” said Schoff. “My guardian angels were looking over me.”
Schoff, who is battling lung cancer, was undecided how she’d spend her prize money.
The winning ticket was purchased at Argentine Smoke & Party Shop, located at 3204 Strong Ave. in Kansas City, Kan.
