VALLEY CENTER RESIDENT BEATS THE DEALER – WINS $10,000
March 6, 2009
TOPEKA, KAN. – A couple of weeks ago, Javier Soto decided to try his luck playing Blackjack. The Valley Center resident purchased seven $1 Blackjack instant scratch tickets, beating the dealer on one ticket, winning a $10,000 top prize!
“It was hard to believe,” said Soto. “My sister-in-law works at a store that sells lottery tickets, so I asked her to check it for me. When she confirmed it was a $10,000 winning ticket, I signed the back of it and kept it in my billfold until today.”
According to Soto, he plays instant scratch tickets weekly, but has never won anything over $100.
“I play all the time,” said Soto. “It’s nice to win $10,000.”
Soto, who is married and has three children, plans to buy a newer car with his prize money.
The winning ticket was purchased at Burgardt Liquor Store, located at 3027 E. Pawnee.
