DELAWARE LOTTERY REVEALS WINNING TICKET RETAILER, URGES PRUDENCE
March 3, 2009

Dover, DE -- The Delaware Lottery today announced that Benbow's Package Store in Dover sold one of two jackpot-winning tickets for the $174.4 million Feb. 28 Powerball® drawing. The other jackpot-winning ticket was purchased at Plymouth Meeting Mall in Montgomery County, Pa. So far neither winner has come forward to claim their prize.

The Delaware Lottery strongly encourages the holder of the winning Powerball ticket to immediately sign the back of the ticket, which prevents anyone else from claiming the prize. The Lottery also urges the winner to speak with a licensed financial advisor or attorney and contact the Delaware Lottery as soon as possible to make arrangements for their claim.

"We are thrilled that the eighth player in Delaware Lottery history is about to step forward for a Powerball jackpot," said Delaware Lottery Director, Wayne Lemons. "It is very important that the winner seek professional financial assistance before claiming this life-changing sum."

Powerball jackpots must be claimed at Lottery headquarters located in Dover at 1575 McKee Road, Suite 102. Winners are welcome any business day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and must present a photo I.D. and Social Security card.

The last time a Delaware player won the top prize in Powerball, the jackpot was $116.9 million. Thirty-three coworkers from Seaford split the prize, which was hit Oct. 9, 2004.

Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes. Each jackpot winner has 60 days from the date he or she claims the prize to decide between the 29-year, 30-installment annuity, or the one time cash "lump sum" amount of $93,258,224.32 divided between the two tickets.

The winner's pretax windfall would be $87.2 million if paid out over 29 years, or about $46.6 million as a lump sum.

Saturday's Powerball numbers were 3, 16, 20, 42 and 58, with a Powerball of 7. The Power Play multiplier was 5. Powerball's annuity jackpot will start over again, at $20 million, or $10.7 million cash, for tomorrow's drawing.
