WHEAT RIDGE RESIDENT WINS $250,000 IN SECOND-CHANCE DRAWING
February 25, 2009
DENVER – Ann Ludvigsen has been playing Colorado Lottery games for years, thanks to frequent ticket purchases by her longtime partner. But she never dreamed the pastime would yield any big prizes. So, Ludvigsen was shocked when Colorado Lottery officials surprised her at work Wednesday with news that she won $250,000 in the Lottery’s Mining for Money Second-Chance Drawing. Ludvigsen, the Volunteer Services Director for Seniors’ Resources Center, won the quarter of a million dollar windfall, after registering her non-winning Mining for Money Scratch tickets in an online drawing.

“I was just totally surprised and taken aback, especially to have it happen here at work with my co-workers and friends, who I’m so close to,” said Ludvigsen, who received a ceremonial check from Lottery officials in the midst of a staff meeting.

Ludvigsen said the money will help support the recent purchase of a duplex “which was a challenge.” She also plans to share her prize with her daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters as well as with several charitable causes including the Seniors’ Resources Center.

“I just believe in what we’re about,” said Ludvigsen. “And with the Baby Boomers aging, there’s more need for (services) than ever before.”

Ludvigsen’s non-winning ticket was chosen from more than 42,000 entries in the Mining for Money drawing. The Colorado Lottery holds about 10 second-chance drawings annually on select Scratch games.
