WHEN ROUTINE PAYS OFF...

St. John’s, NL – When it comes to a routine, Derrick Vaters has it down to a fine art. Every night after work, Derrick stops at the local store to pick up a copy of the daily paper, and some lottery tickets. He always enjoys family time with his wife Marg and daughter Hollie, then later in the evening he reads the paper and plays the lottery. This routine paid off in a big way for Derrick last Monday, Feb 9th when he won the grand prize for ALC’s Set For Life Scratch ticket.
When asked if there was anything special about the day he purchased his ticket, Derrick replied, “No. I play all the time. Though I’ve been playing Set for Life more often since ALC has been advertising that there are winners out there that have not been claimed.”
Derrick has decided to take the lump sum payment of $675,000 as his prize. His winnings will be used to build a new home, and to make his family’s life more comfortable for years to come. Derrick has already purchased some news toys – he’s the proud owner of a new all-terrain vehicle and snowmobile.
Derrick will keep enjoying his daily routine, and he will keep buying lottery tickets. “Somebody got to win. And you don’t win if you don’t play,” he said. His wife Marg also quipped that she may even buy a couple of tickets in the future.
Andrea’s Mini Mart in Whitbourne will receive a seller’s prize representing 1% of the total winnings.
