ROUTINE CONVENIENCE STORE STOP TURNS INTO $100,000
February 24, 2009
Vancouver – Steven Toedtli of Washougal has his morning routine down to a science. He stops by his local Jimbo's Deli Mart while making his way to work. Last week, Steven decided to play Washington's Lottery Scratch game, "Fabulous Fortune." It wasn't just science but a little bit of luck as he scratched his way to winning $100,000.
"I didn't believe it!" exclaimed Steven. Neither did his co-workers or managers. When he got to work and told them what had just happened, they responded, "You better get down to the store to make sure!"
Steven did just that and when he got there the store owner confirmed what he wanted to believe was true – that he has just won big! While he has played the Lottery in the past, this was his first large win.
While on his way to claim his prize Steven stopped by his house to show his wife the ticket. She promptly told him, "Get down to the Lottery and get your prize!" Good advice from his wife!
Together they have four children and a grandchild on the way. With the winnings he plans on giving some to his children and then tucking the rest away in the bank. But not before purchasing 'his and hers' Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Steven works at GK Equipment Rentals and will continue to do so. Maybe he should bring with him the large Lottery check he got his picture taken with so that his co-workers will finally believe he won!
This is the second $100,000 Lottery Scratch winner in Washington this month. On Feb. 12, Andrew Greenwald of Seattle also purchased a winning ticket at the Safeway on Queen Anne Avenue.
