NASHVILLE—The Tennessee Education Lottery has added another member to a group of lucky players who have won $1 million or more since sales began over five years ago. In fact, there have been 28 tickets purchased worth $1 million or more since inception, one of which was claimed this morning after the winner scratched off a top prize in the Lottery’s newest instant-ticket game, “Tennessee Millionaires Club.”

“Our newest game has been an immediate hit,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Lottery. “Not only is that good news for the programs we fund, but also for the thousands who are winning prizes and having fun.”

With the help of “Tennessee Millionaires Club,” the Lottery sold $27,646,798 in tickets last week, which makes it the second highest week of sales excluding the first two weeks of start-up. The other week was Feb. 18, 2006, when sales were $33,588,251.

It’s no wonder players are excited—“Tennessee Millionaires Club” has the highest prize payout percentage of any game in Tennessee Lottery history and includes more than $150 million in cash prizes. In addition to this morning’s $1 million winner, there have been more than 100 “Tennessee Millionaire’s Club” winners of $1,000 to $25,000 since the game went on sale six days ago.
