COUPLE PURCHASED POWERPLAY® WINS $1 MILLION

COLUMBIA, SC – A Charlotte, NC, couple admits they like to keep things quiet, this week especially. Even in the car on the way to Columbia they didn’t say much to each other. Winning $1 million playing Powerball® has left them, well, speechless.
"I might scream when I get the check," the wife commented. But she didn’t.
Her husband, still somewhat asleep only grunted when she told him they matched five numbers in Saturday’s Powerball® drawing (6, 20, 25, 37, 42, PB 25). No scream.
The couple matched the five white ball numbers, but missed the red Powerball®. By spending an extra dollar on the PowerPlay® feature, the couple increased their $200,000 win to $1 million.
Not even having their ticket confirmed by the folks at Miller Produce & Farm in Rock Hill, where the couple purchased the ticket, that they won $1 million, not the $200,000 they suspected, could elicit a shout. Instead the husband turned to the people in line behind him and asked them not to say anything to anyone.
The couple will share the good news with their family and friends when they are ready. They said they might go out and celebrate tonight. A quiet evening at home seems more their style.
The Charlotte, NC, couple is the Lottery’s first match five with PowerPlay® winner since Powerball® underwent several changes in early January. The starting jackpot increased from $15 to $20 million and players purchasing PowerPlay® and matching five white balls now win $1 million.
