RETIRED PHYSICIAN FROM URUGUAY WINS $250,000 WITH MEGA MILLIONS WHILE IN SEATTLE

Seattle – Carlos Engelman, a retired physician from Uruguay, received a Mega Millions ticket from his father-in-law during his last visit to Seattle in November. But before he could check his ticket, he returned home to Uruguay. Two days before Christmas, he checked the ticket online and discovered he had won $250,000!
Carlos arrived back in Washington last week to claim his quarter of a million dollars. The trip isn’t an uncommon one for Carlos; he visits often to purchase medical supplies to bring back to his country. Also, his son and two of his grandchildren live in Seattle. Speaking of his grandkids, they will benefit greatly from grandpa’s good luck. “I have five grandkids, I want to help them all to go to college,” Carlos said to his son John, who came with his father to act as a translator while he claimed his prize.
John was among the first people to know about the winning ticket, “I couldn’t believe it,” he said, “We’re very excited.”
We asked Carlos if this was his first time playing Washington’s Lottery, he replied “Yeah, it’s the first time I’ve played here.” He has played Lottery in the states before though. He visited another grandson in Miami on his last trip, “I bought another ticket in Florida on that trip, and I plan to win that one too,” he chuckled. He had been keeping his ticket with him, in his wallet, ever since he found out it was a winner back on December 23, hopefully he didn’t have too much trouble at customs.
Carlos said the first thing he was going to do when he left the Lottery office was call his wife. Carlos’ winning ticket was purchased at the QFC in Bellevue.
