EDMOND RESIDENTS WIN UNEXPECTED CASH

Oklahoma City – Harold Whipple and Rhonda Cartwright of Edmond recently received unexpected cash with each receiving a winning Oklahoma Lottery Scratcher ticket as a gift.
Harold Whipple’s one-of-a-kind 80th birthday gift was given to him by his wife and grandson. It was an Aces High Scratcher worth $12,000.
Shocked and pleasantly surprised, Whipple says pandemonium broke out within the family. All of his grandchildren were with him when he scratched the ticket and his grandson didn’t immediately believe Whipple had won.
Whipple plans to enjoy a nice dinner with his winnings as well as share it with his family. He plans to give each adult $100 and each child, $50.
A regular Lottery player, he encourages others to play responsibly and believes it’s great that the Lottery proceeds help support Oklahoma’s education.
The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K, 3303 S. Blvd., in Edmond.
Rhonda Cartwright’s surprise gift came during a holiday family gathering where she received an Oklahoma Lottery Wild 8s Scratcher worth $888.
“My mother had purchased the Lottery tickets for a game,” she says. “I drew the winning ticket out of a gift sack.”
Her mother bought the ticket at Homeland, 24 E. 33, in Edmond. Cartwright plans to use her winnings toward a trip to Europe this summer.
