ATLANTA – A Winder retiree is celebrating a lottery win. John Elias, a retired marketing executive from H&R Block, matched five out of six winning numbers plus the Free Ball in the Jan. 10 Win for Life drawing. He won the game's second prize of $1,000 a week for a year.
Circle K #2953, 183 W. Athens St. in Winder, sold the winning ticket. Winning numbers from the Jan. 10 Win for Life drawing were: 10-13-20-21-36-39 and the Free Ball was 7.
Elias, 69, checked the Georgia Lottery Web site and discovered his win.
"It was blind luck," he said. "I am excited."
The retired executive and his wife, Linda, have six adult children and eight grandchildren. Elias said he has no immediate plans for his lottery win.
"It's great," he exclaimed.
