The New Year began with a bang for thousands of Tennesseans who won prizes from the Tennessee Lottery during the past few days, several of whom claimed their winnings in Nashville on Monday morning.

“This is the way to start the year out right!” said Jimmy Davis of Memphis, who won $200,000 from the New Year’s Eve Powerball drawing. Just after Jimmy came Howard Paige of Nashville, who won $20,000 in a NASCAR instant-ticket second-chance drawing. This was just after Val Burke, who won $70,000 playing Pick 5.
