WESTMINSTER MAN DOUBLES HIS LUCK

DENVER – Chris Tolbertson got an early birthday gift when he hit the Cash 5 jackpot twice in the December 5th drawing. The hotel operations manager played the same numbers on two different tickets when his first ticket only had five “lines” instead of the 10 he’d wanted. The clerk ran the same five lines again on a new ticket, and Tolbertson won a $40,000 prize, rather than just the usual $20,000 jackpot.
“I always say, ‘Someone is going to win, it might as well be me. But it usually isn’t,’” said a still shocked Tolbertson, a decade-long player of Colorado Lottery games.
Tolbertson will pay off credit card debt with his prize and save the rest. He turns 30 on December 11th, but doesn’t plan any extravagant purchases to celebrate his big day. He bought his winning ticket at the Diamond Shamrock at 7396 W. 92nd Ave. in Westminster. The store will receive a $400 bonus for selling the lucky ticket.
