FORT WASHINGTON MAN IS LUCKY TEN TIMES OVER

(Baltimore) – Coughing and sneezing after a hard day working on the golf course, the 46-year-old needed something to drink. He stopped at a liquor store on his way home intending to buy a soda. While making his purchase, he noticed another store patron buying a Lucky Times 10 scratch-off. “I saw the guy and thought that’s a new one,” said the winner. “I told the clerk, give me one.”
The father-of-three said that he typically waits until he gets home to scratch his ticket. But on this occasion, he scratched it right there in the store. “First, I saw $10, 000,” said the man. “Then I scratched and saw the 10X and my heart started beating really fast. I just said this can’t be right.” After doing the math in his head several times, he asked the clerk to look at his ticket.
“She told me it was right,” the winner said, smiling.
Married for 15 years, the man said that he hasn’t yet shared the good news with his wife.
“I’m waiting to get the check,” he said. “I want to be able to just hand it to her.” With two of his children in college, the winner said that things have been tight and that the win comes at a great time. He intends to use his prize money for a down payment on a house and to pay off bills. “I want to be debt free,” he said. He added that he will take his wife on a trip somewhere with blue waters. “I love those blue waters.”
The winning ticket was sold at Arena Liquors, located at 8565 Landover Rd. in Hyattsville.
