YAKIMA AREA STORE NAMED LOTTERY RETAILER OF THE YEAR
September 17, 2008
OLYMPIA - Union Gap store Rainier Place has been named Lottery Retailer of the Year out of nearly 4,000 retailers statewide. The announcement was made this week by Washington’s Lottery. Lottery Retailers of the Year are selected based on criteria of employee enthusiasm, management and clerk involvement, display of lottery signage, store sales and overall Lottery involvement. The selection was made for fiscal year 2008.
Each quarter, the Lottery picks one retailer from each of its five regions as Retailers of the Quarter. At the end of the year, a Lottery committee selects one of those retailers as its Retailer of the Year. The winning retailer receives a $1,000 bonus and plaque, special in-store displays and equipment, t-shirts for employees and an on-site celebration.
Rainier Place has been a stand-out due to the store’s exceptional customer service and staff enthusiasm. The store creates its own promotions for Lottery products based on what Rainier Place employees feel customers desire, and the overall atmosphere of the store draws customers in.
Last year the store sold a winning second tier Mega Millions ticket worth $250,000 and last month sold a $1,000 winning Lotto ticket.
