Boise – For the second time in less than a year, one lucky Boise woman has walked away with a top prize from the Idaho Lottery. Sherry Lyon claimed $100,000 on the Idaho Lottery’s first World Poker TourTM ScratchTM game.
“This seems really surreal,” said Lyon who works in the Boise School District. “I called my husband and screamed and shouted when I got the news I was the winner!"
Based on the popular television series, the Idaho Lottery’s version of World Poker TourTM the ScratchTM game had one top prize available through a second chance draw. Players with non-winning World Poker TourTM tickets could enter through the Lottery’s website or via a tele-entry system for a chance to win $100,000.
Like any good poker player, Lyon knows her strengths when it comes to playing Idaho Lottery ScratchTM games. “I didn’t have to go ‘all in’ to win this time,” admitted Lyon who said she played the game regularly with her husband at the Eastside Tavern in southeast Boise since it debuted in March. “I seem to do pretty well with the second chance entries.”
Last November, Lyon was selected as one of three on-field finalists at Bronco Stadium for a chance to win a trip to Hawai’i in the Idaho Lottery’s Second Chance to Paradise contest, also a second-chance style promotion. Before a live crowd of 30,681 fans, Lyon showed up for the event wearing a grass skirt and coconut swim top over her regular clothes and won the all-expenses paid trip for 4 days in the Hyatt Regency on Waikiki Beach and saw the Broncos play the Hawai’i Warriors over Thanksgiving.
This time Lyon faced more competition as the World Poker TourTM ScratchTM game set an Idaho Lottery record for the most entries ever for a second chance promotion with 21,756.
After taxes, Lyon took home a check for $67,200. She and her husband plan to complete some much needed repairs to their home with the winnings.
And for all those players who did not win the big jackpot, the Idaho Lottery has just introduced a second version World Poker TourTM the Scratch game that also has one top prize of $100,000 instantly and one available through another second chance draw.
