PUTNAM RESIDENT HITS A "HOMERUN" WITH CT LOTTERY'S NEW YORK YANKEES® SCRATCH TICKET!
September 3, 2008
For some people it may seem like the Major League Baseball season is winding down. However, New York Yankees fan, Chuck Broussard of Putnam would be quick to tell you that for him, it feels like the season has just begun.

Broussard became the 3rd CT Lottery player to hit an “instant homerun win” when he came to Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to collect his $50,000 prize ($35,001 after taxes) playing the New York Yankees® scratch game. Broussard “checked and rechecked” his ticket several times to be certain that the ticket he held in his hands was indeed a top prize winner. Then, he returned to the lottery retailer to have the ticket scanned and validated. "I was really surprised when I saw that I had a big winner. All I bought was one ticket," said Broussard with a laugh.

Broussard, a computer programmer, plans to pay some bills and then put the rest of his prize money away for the future. Broussard bought his winning ticket at Rite Aide, located at 203 Kennedy Drive in Putnam. Rite Aide will receive a $500 commission for selling the ticket.

Tickets for the New York Yankees® and the Boston Red Sox® games went on sale March 19 at the Lottery’s nearly 2,800 retailers. Two more top prizes of $50,000 remain in the Yankee’s scratch game, and one more $50,000 top prize is available to be won in the Red Sox scratch game. Odds of winning a prize in the CT Lottery’s Major League Baseball® scratch games are 1 in 3.62. Scratch game probability based on number of tickets available for a game rather than on individual purchases.
