Michael Davis of Bend became the Oregon Lottery®’s newest Match 5 Powerball® winner, claiming his $200,007 prize at the Lottery office in Salem on Aug. 1.
Davis matched six numbers, without the power ball, in the July 30, Powerball drawing. His winning ticket is the 294th winning Match 5 Powerball ticket sold in Oregon. The Oregon Lottery has averaged better than one winning Match 5 ticket per month since the game began in 1992.
The winning numbers were 3-25-45-51-55. The winning power ball number, which Davis did not match, was 13. Davis purchased a $5 Quick Pick ticket, with five sets of numbers, at the Quick Way Market, in Bend. He won his big prize in the fourth set of numbers. He also matched two numbers, plus the power ball, in his third set of numbers. This added $7, for a total Powerball prize of $200,007.
Davis said he was “totally excited” about winning his big prize. “Oh man! This is great,” said Davis. He added that some day he is going to hit that sixth number, for the Powerball jackpot. “I went out the day after I won, and bought a ticket for the next drawing.”
Davis was accompanied to the Lottery office in Salem by his wife, and two of his three children. Plans for his prize money include: paying off his wife’s car, looking into the purchase of property to build a house on, and setting money aside for his children’s educations.
