NEW MEXICO LOTTERY NAMES LAS VEGAS STORE A ‘LUCKY LANDMARK’

LAS VEGAS – The New Mexico Lottery today christened Ross One Stop in Las Vegas as a “Lucky Landmark” lottery retailer after the store sold a winning Powerball® ticket worth $1 million.
Las Vegas resident Joseph P. Baca purchased the “Quick-Pick” ticket at Ross One Stop on Aug. 9 about 20 minutes before sales for that evening’s drawing closed at 8 p.m. Baca matched the five winning white ball numbers of 32, 40, 43, 49 and 53.
Ordinarily, this prize-winning combination pays $200,000, but Baca’s prize was increased to $1 million because he added the game’s Power Play® option to his wager for $1 more. Power Play multiplies non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four or five times, depending on the Power Play number drawn. On Aug. 9, five was drawn as the Power Play multiplier.
Lottery Sales Director Pam Poteat presented the Lucky Landmark plaque to the Ross One Stop staff in a ceremony at the store. In addition to selling the winning $1 million Powerball ticket, Poteat noted that in the past 12 months, Ross One Stop in Las Vegas has sold other New Mexico Lottery tickets paying $192,000 in prizes including a $125,000 prize from the New Year’s Eve Raffle™ in January.
“Ross One Stop is a lucky place for lottery players and an outstanding partner to the lottery as it pursues its mission to maximize revenues for higher education in New Mexico,” Poteat said.
“We feel like winners, too,” said Kenny Ross, co-owner of Ross Oil Co., Inc. “Our store helped make this life-changing experience possible for the Bacas and we’re helping our customers’ children realize their dreams of a college education.”
