Mel Ott of Winona claimed a $200,000 Lottery prize that he won by playing the $200,000 Extreme Cash scratch game.
As Ott claimed the prize at the Lottery’s headquarters in Roseville, he said, “I know somebody has to win and I thought someday that somebody could be me.” That “someday” for Ott turned out to be Aug. 25, when he went to Freedom Valu Center, located at 217 Johnson St. in Winona, to redeem $15 in winning scratch tickets. He decided to purchase one $200,000 Extreme Cash scratch ticket and pocket the remaining $5. Ott scratched the ticket in his car where he determined that it was indeed a $200,000 winning ticket. He arrived later that day to claim the prize.
The $200,000 Extreme Cash scratch game is a $10 ticket that offers a top prize of $200,000. The overall odds of winning a prize by playing $200,000 Extreme Cash are 1 in 3.58. There are currently two of four $200,000 top prizes remaining to be claimed.
