Chisago City resident resident Michael Elton purchased a two-line quick-pick ticket for the Northstar Cash drawing on Aug. 16, 2008. The second line of this ticket matched the five numbers drawn to win $27,589.

Elton purchased the winning ticket at Schmidt Oil Co., 29409 Lofton Ave. in Chisago City.

The ticket was one of two tickets to match all five numbers drawn (2-15-16-17-31) on Aug. 16 to split the $55,178 jackpot. Each ticket was worth $27,589.

The second $27,589 jackpot prize was claimed by Paul Riffle of Lakeville.

A Northstar Cash jackpot ticket worth $38,915 from the drawing on July 29, 2008 (sold in Hennepin County) and a jackpot worth $28,000 from the drawing on July 16, 2008 (sold in Stearns County) have not yet been claimed. Players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim all prizes.

To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn.

Northstar Cash drawings are conducted daily after the Daily 3® drawing. Tickets must be purchased by 6:10 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
