Lakeville resident Paul Riffle won a $27,589 Northstar Cash prize from the Aug. 16 drawing. The fifth line of his five-line ticket matched the winning numbers of 2-15-16-17-31 to win the jackpot. His ticket was one of two sold that matched all five winning numbers for that drawing to split the $55,178 jackpot.

Riffle purchased the winning ticket at Kwik Trip, 17388 Glacier Way in Lakeville.

The second jackpot winner from the Northstar Cash drawing on Aug. 16, 2008 (sold in Chisago County) has not yet come forward to claim the prize. Other Northstar Cash jackpot prizes are also unclaimed: a ticket worth $54,883 from the drawing on Aug. 7, 2008 (sold in Wilkin County), a ticket worth $38,915 from the drawing on July 29, 2008 (sold in Hennepin County) and a ticket worth $28,000 from the drawing on July 16, 2008 (sold in Stearns County). Northstar Cash players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

To play Northstar Cash, players select five numbers from 1 to 31. Matching the five numbers drawn wins the jackpot, which starts at $25,000 and grows until it is won. Players also win by matching 2, 3 or 4 of the numbers drawn.

Northstar Cash drawings are conducted daily after the Daily 3® drawing. Tickets must be purchased by 6:10 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
