MATCH 4 WINNER'S LUCK CONTINUES AS HE'S "TAKIN' IT EASY”
August 25, 2008
OLYMPIA - Dwight McFarlane of Kennewick is no rookie to winning the lottery. On August 16, McFarlane won $10,000 playing Match 4 and became a lottery winner for the seventh time!
McFarlane has been extremely lucky. He first won $1,000-per-week for life playing "Lucky for Life" Scratch several years ago, and since then he’s won $1,000 twice on Quinto and $100 three times playing Hit 5. Last week, he decided to try the Lottery’s new Match 4 game. He bought a few tickets, and won a couple of bucks. He decided to re-invest his winnings by buying a Match 4 ticket, carefully picking his numbers based on a hunch he had.
On August 16, McFarlane called the Lottery’s Winning Numbers Hotline to get the results, and heard his first three numbers listed but did not hear the final number. Thinking he’d only matched three numbers for a Tier 2 $50 prize, he then heard the fourth number – and it was a match!
“I just had a feeling when I chose those numbers,” said McFarlane. “But I didn’t expect lightning to strike twice!”
Life has been good for McFarlane since he won "Lucky for Life." He recently bought a new Mercedes and took his 11-year-old daughter shopping for the upcoming school year. They’ve been able to move into a nice condo, and he has been able to retire from his former job at a corrections facility while he considers a new career path.
“I don’t have to worry about my retirement, so I can have the luxury of being able to decide where I go from here,” he said. “I’m takin’ it easy! When you have an easy, low-stress life, you don’t age!”
With his latest Match 4 win, McFarlane is going to focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and providing for his daughter, and he says he’ll continue to play the lottery on occasion.
“I will win again!” he said.
McFarlane’s Match 4 winning numbers were 6-8-11-20. He purchased his winning ticket at Albertson’s Fuel Center on 5208 W. Clearwater Ave. in Kennewick.
