MEGA MILLIONS WINNER SET TO TRAVEL TO SON'S BOOT CAMP GRADUATION
August 18, 2008
OLYMPIA – After finishing some renovations to her house last week, bookkeeper Dawn Livingston of Pasco had no idea she would soon gain more than just a new paint job. Livingston won a Tier 2 Mega Millions prize on August 8, receiving an unexpected $250,000!
The morning after the August 8 drawing, Livingston checked her ticket at a local store -- and discovered it was worth some mega bucks. She anxiously awaited Monday morning, when she could finally claim her winnings at the Washington’s Lottery regional office in Yakima.
“I got butterflies in my stomach and they have not gone away since!” she said. Despite the nerves, the Pasco mom kept her sense of humor and jokingly asked Lottery staff members if they could pay her prize in $1 bills.
Livingston knew exactly what she wanted to do with the money. She plans to visit her son, 18, at his Navy boot camp graduation in September.
“I’ve already started packing!” Livingston said. “I’ll tell him I’m coming so he can make sure he’s not on duty, but I am keeping my lottery win a surprise until I get there.”
Livingston’s Mega Millions winning numbers were 11-17-28-32-50, missing only the Mega Ball number 33. She purchased her winning ticket at Kwick Stop located at 2110 Swift Blvd. in Richland.
