NEW JERSEY MAN WINS $100,000 PC5

COLUMBIA, SC - John May had not planned on returning to South Carolina quite so soon.
After vacationing with his family on Hilton Head Island, May returned home to New Jersey only to realize a lottery ticket he purchased in South Carolina was a winner. A few days and a plane ride later, he finds himself back in the Palmetto State, this time waiting to claim a winning ticket worth $100,000.
"I decided I had won enough to fly down," said May, who vacations in South Carolina once or twice a year.
He purchased the winning Palmetto Cash 5 ticket from the Plantation Station on Hilton Head Island. Monday morning, back home in New Jersey, he decided to check his ticket. Disbelief washed over May. He matched all five numbers (1 - 22 - 31 - 32 - 33) in the Friday, August 8, 2008, Palmetto Cash 5 drawing to win the $100,000 top prize.
He first shared the good news with his oldest daughter.
"She laughed hysterically," he said.
The following day, with the winning ticket tucked away in his pocket and a photocopy of the ticket left behind for his daughter, May boarded a plane headed for Columbia. The next morning, Wednesday, he claimed the ticket.
May admits he is a regular lottery player at home in New Jersey and plays the South Carolina Education Lottery when he is in the state. He has yet to make any definite plans for his winnings.
When asked his thoughts on the entertainment value of winning he replied, "I would recommend it to anyone."
