TOPEKA, KAN. – At the T-Mobile Call Center in Lenexa, employees get little “extras” for providing excellent customer service. For Robert Butler that little extra turned into something extraordinary!
To reward Butler for a job well done yesterday, T-Mobile gave the three-year employee his choice of small gifts. Butler didn’t hesitate – he chose two $1 Change of Luck scratch tickets.
“I scratched the first one, and nothing,” Butler said. “Then I scratched the second one, and it turned into a beautiful day.”
Butler saw that he had a $5,000 winner, after which he stood up right in the center of the call center, raised his fist, and yelled, “Yes!”
The company made the day even more special for Butler by handing him a bunch of balloons, making a sign that said he had won $5,000, and giving him a little parade.
Equally exciting, Butler said, was telling his 7-year-old daughter Daija that he was going to take her out for a very special meal.
“She was watching television and saw a commercial for steak and shrimp at a local restaurant. ‘Daddy, that sure looks good,’ she said. She was so happy when I told her we were going there to celebrate my win.” Butler said he also plans to use some of his prize money to purchase a different vehicle.
Butler, 39, is a resident of Kansas City, Mo. His lucky Change of Luck ticket was purchased at Hen House 19, located at 15000 W. 87th St. Parkway in Lenexa.
