FIRST-TIME LOTTERY PLAYER ENJOYS CHIPS & SALSA – WINS $10,000

TOPEKA, KAN. – Last Friday after work, first-time lottery player Steven Cox enjoyed a few Chips & Salsa - instant scratch tickets that is. The Kansas City, Kan. resident purchased five of the $2 Chips & Salsa game, winning a $10,000 top prize on the third ticket he played.
“I’ve never played scratch tickets in my life,” said Cox. “I wasn’t even sure if I’d won until the store clerk checked my ticket. I screamed and hollered when I realized I’d won $10,000.”
According to Cox, he decided to try his luck playing lottery tickets because he thought he might win a couple of extra bucks, so he could go to the movies.
“Even with all the excitement of winning $10,000, I managed to make it to the movies,” smiled Cox. “My family has good luck when it comes to gambling. My grandma just won $38,000 at a casino. I liked playing the scratch tickets, but I don’t know if I’ll try it again. It’ll be hard to beat winning $10,000.”
Cox, a student, is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.
He plans to get a tattoo, a few new clothes and possibly a newer truck with his prize money.
The winning ticket was purchased at Woods Mini Mart 46, located at 11500 Parallel Ave. in Kansas City.
