INDIANAPOLIS – Von Smith of Markleville was on his way to a local racino when he stopped at Meijer to cash in some winning Hoosier Lottery Scratch-off tickets. He got two more tickets, one being a new game, 8 Times the Luck and won the top prize of $88,888.
“I asked the cashier ‘I did win, didn’t I?” he said. “Then I called my wife. She didn’t believe me.”
Smith purchased his winning 8 Times the Luck Scratch-off ticket from Meijer at 6630 Scatterfield Road in Anderson.
He and his wife of 33 years, Mary, plan to put part of the money in the bank and to buy a new car.
“I thought 'boy it would be nice to win it,'” said Smith. “I never dreamed I would.”
