ATLANTA – A Douglasville great-grandmother is celebrating a lottery win. Anita Ransom, 66, was randomly selected in the Aug. 1 Georgia's Millionaire Club drawing, winning $5,000 along with a chance to win $10 million.
Georgia's Millionaire Club weekly drawings were held in conjunction with the instant game Georgia's $500 Million Club.
The Georgia's Millionaire Club drawing has produced 77 weekly winners since the first drawing was held Feb. 16, 2007. Ransom is the final Georgia's Millionaire Club drawing weekly winner.
Each weekly Georgia's Millionaire Club winner received $5,000 and is a finalist in the Extra Chance $10 Million Grand Prize Drawing.
Ransom was watching the televised drawing when her name was called.
"I said, 'Oh goodness, that's me,' " she said. "This is big to me. This is great."
The great-grandmother, who also has three adult children and seven grandchildren, plans to retire from her job at an insurance company if she wins $10 million from the grand prize drawing.
