AFTER A SUMMER VACATION, $490,000 RETIREMENT “ISN’T FAR OFF”

SACRAMENTO – Michael Iwanycky of Irvine took a five day vacation to Mexico. Upon his return, his local retailer gave him the news: “Didn’t you hear? We have a big winner.” The retailer printed out the winning numbers from his Lottery machine and Michael marched home with an extra skip in his step. While Michael has matched four out of five numbers playing Fantasy 5 before, this time he finally tracked down that fifth lucky number. His payout? $491,297.
The 57-year-old project manager, who is a father of two, was calm and collected when speaking with California Lottery officials. When asked what he and his wife of more than 20 years would do with their prize money, he replied, “We had planned to remodel our kitchen before I won, so I’ll put this toward retirement which isn’t too far off.”
