EIGHT CO-WORKERS SPLIT MEGA MILLIONS PRIZE OF $250,000

Bill Perkins of Roanoke and seven of his co-workers at Timber Truss Housing Systems of Salem sometimes pool their money to play Mega Millions. They’ve had some success in the past. “A few tickets here, a few tickets there were winners,” Mr. Perkins told Virginia Lottery officials.
On July 29, 2008, the group had its biggest winner yet when one of its tickets matched the first five numbers in the Mega Millions drawing to win $250,000.
“We’re going to have a party somewhere!” Mr. Perkins said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Stop In Food Store, located at 3911 Melrose Avenue in Roanoke. The winning numbers for that drawing were 11-13-20-30-42 and the Mega Ball number was 3. The numbers on the ticket were selected at random using the Easy Pick function.
Along with Mr. Perkins, the other members of the group are David Brown of Roanoke, Patrick Snead of Salem, Paul Craighead of Shawsville, Leonard Clark of Salem, John Perkins of Roanoke, David Honaker of Salem and Don Wells of Shawsville. Each of the eight co-workers received $31,250 before taxes.
