It was a slow day at work for John Mayer of Sterling. So he and his coworkers went across the street to play the Virginia Lottery’s Harley-Davidson® Scratcher game. When he scratched his ticket, Mr. Mayer discovered he had won a 2008 Harley-Davidson® 105th Anniversary Fat Boy® Motorcycle.
As he later told Virginia Lottery officials, he proceeded to run back to the retailer, Sweetwater Chevron, at 200 Davis Drive in Sterling, hold the ticket against the window and scream, “I won the bike!”
On August 4, Mr. Mayer received the keys to his new set of wheels from Virginia Lottery Northern Virginia Customer Service Manager Karen Colvin. The presentation took place at East Coast Harley-Davidson® in Dumfries.
Mr. Mayer is a mechanic and a motorcycle enthusiast.
The Harley-Davidson® game showcases one of the great icons of the American road: the Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. The Lottery is offering a total of 10 motorcycles: eight for Scratcher winners and another two for winners of second-chance drawings. As of August 4, five of those eight Scratcher prizes remain unclaimed. Players can also enter non-winning tickets in the “Live To Ride” Second-Chance Drawing to win a bike or prize packs featuring great Harley-Davidson® merchandise.
