MIDLOTHIAN WOMAN SELECTS HER OWN NUMBERS AND WINS BIG
August 5, 2008
Lois Ripley of Midlothian was calm, cool and collected when her daughter told her that her Mega Millions ticket numbers matched the winning numbers on the Virginia Lottery’s Web site.

“I was in disbelief,” she told Lottery officials. “It’s too good to be true.”

Mrs. Ripley matched the first five numbers in the July 4, 2008, Mega Millions drawing to win the game’s second highest prize of $250,000. She purchased the winning ticket at the Border Station, located at 4732 S. Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake.

The winning numbers for that drawing were 1-3-12-19-20 and the Mega Ball number was 28. She selected her own combination of numbers.

Mrs. Ripley is retired and has no current plans for her winnings.
