STERLING MAN LISTENS TO HIS INSTINCTS AND WINS $250,000

Anthony Marrocco of Sterling will purchase a Mega Millions ticket when the jackpot gets high. For some reason, when he went to purchase his ticket when the jackpot was $75 million – something told him to buy two tickets instead of one. He listened to his instinct and it paid off.
He had one of his family members look up the winning numbers and when she told him he matched for the $250,000 prize, he almost fainted!
“I was shocked,” he told Lottery officials.
Mr. Marrocco matched the first five numbers in the July 11, 2008, Mega Millions drawing to win the game’s second highest prize. He purchased the winning ticket at Giant Food, located at 2100 South Bank Street in Sterling.
The winning numbers for that drawing were 5-14-16-39-51 and the Mega Ball number was 34. He used the Easy Pick function, allowing the computer to randomly select the numbers on his ticket.
Mr. Marrocco is retired and plans to use his winnings to supplement his retirement.
