A WIN FOR EDUCATION
August 6, 2008
ATHENS - Not only does the Ohio Lottery get wins for education, but an Ohio University Accounting major got a win for education too. Michael P. Eynon of Westlake won a second-tier $250,000 prize after he matched five numbers in last night’s Mega Millions drawing. He filed the claim in the Athens’ regional office.

After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent, Eynon will receive a check for $172,500. The senior and offensive guard plans to pay for the rest of his schooling and then become a CPA. Eynon said he plays one to five dollars every once in awhile and decided to play last night after he took care of some school business. Now he will have money to take care of, school business.

Eynon purchased the auto lotto winning ticket at Shop Mart, 1 E. Stimson Avenue in Athens. Shop Mart receives a $1,000 bonus for selling a second-tier prizewinning ticket. The winning numbers were 9-21-36-38-55. The mega ball number was 13. The holder of the other second-tier prizewinning ticket sold at Village Drive Thru in Ripley has not come forward to claim.
