DES MOINES, Iowa - A Linn County man has won a substantial amount of money playing an Iowa Lottery numbers game!
Doug Zanka recently claimed a $12,000 prize he won playing Pick 4. He purchased his winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 20 Wilson Ave. S.W. in Cedar Rapids.
Zanka claimed his prize money at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.
Zanka played the same numbers twice on $1 straight plays in the evening drawing on Aug. 3. He won $6,000 for each play for a total of $12,000. The winning Pick 4 numbers for the midday drawing on Aug. 3 were 6-9-7-2.
Players in the Pick 4 game choose four numbers, from 0 to 9. The numbers chosen may be repeated. In addition, players decide the type of bet they wish to make. Players can wager 50 cents, $1, $2, $3, $4, or $5 on each set of numbers. The possible bets are:
Straight - Win by matching all numbers in the exact order drawn;
Box - Win by matching all of the numbers in any order;
Straight/Box - Win by matching the numbers in the exact order and/or in any order;
Front Pair - Win by matching the first two numbers in exact order;
Back Pair – Win by matching the last two numbers in exact order.
Pick 4 drawings are held at 12:40 and 9:20 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9:20 p.m. on Sundays.
