Washington, D.C. – Ward 4 Councilmember Muriel Bowser was among the celebrants at the July 10, 2008 press conference formally announcing the D.C. Lottery’s $1M POWERBALL winner and the ticket selling agent.
“We are here today celebrating a great win for Ward 4—a win for our neighbor and a win for a Ward 4 business!” asserted Councilmember Bowser as she addressed the interested press conference crowd with her winning smile.
Held at Starlight Food, 5425 Fifth Street, NW, where the winning ticket was purchased, ceremonial checks were presented to Lionel Holmes, the $1 million POWERBALL winner and Ward 4 resident, and Nesro Hassen, proprietor of Starlight Food also of Ward 4. Councilmember Bowser greeted the crowd gathered at the press conference, assisted with agency giveaways, and acknowledged the D.C. Lottery’s contribution to the city’s General Fund.
