Gerald Stone of Williamsburg is set to be the drycleaner with the hottest set of wheels around. He won the top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s “Live to Ride” Second Chance Drawing. The prize is a 2008 Harley-Davidson® 105th Anniversary Fat Boy® Motorcycle.
It started when Mr. Stone purchased a ticket in the Virginia Lottery’s Harley-Davidson Scratcher game. The ticket did not win a prize and he was about to throw it away, but the store clerk encouraged him to enter the ticket in the second-chance drawing.
When the drawing was held on July 8, 2008, the ticket that he almost threw in the trash won the top prize!
“I haven’t ridden in a while,” Mr. Stone told Lottery officials. “But from 18 to 30, all I owned was motorcycles.”
On August 1, Mr. Stone received the keys to his new set of wheels from Virginia Lottery Deputy Director Richard Williams. The presentation took place at Hampton Roads Harley-Davidson® in Yorktown.
The Harley-Davidson® game showcases one of the great icons of the American road: the Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. The Lottery is offering a total of 10 motorcycles: eight for Scratcher winners and another two for winners of second-chance drawings. As of August 1, five of those eight Scratcher prizes remain unclaimed. Mr. Stone is the first of the second-chance winners. The second drawing will be held August 19, 2008. Players can enter non-winning tickets to win a bike or one of 1,844 prize packs featuring great Harley-Davidson® merchandise.
