CASTRO VALLEY MAN WINS $1 MILLION WITH NON-WINNING TICKET

SACRAMENTO – A Castro Valley man was astonished when he received a phone call from the Lottery telling him he was the newest “California Millionaire” and had won $1 million! Astonished because he knew his original ticket to the popular Scratchers® ticket game was a non-winner, but by entering it in a second-chance draw it transformed into a top prize.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, said, “I felt happy, but it was unbelievable when the Lottery called me!” He only plays the Lottery now and then and usually sticks to SuperLOTTO Plus® and MEGA Millions, but something told him to buy a California Millionaire Scratchers ticket. “I only registered for the draw a couple of weeks ago and I didn’t think anything would come of it.”
He purchased his ticket at the Oakland Trading Company in Oakland. He said he will use his prize money to buy a house and go back to school.
California Millionaire was designed to award 15 instant million-dollar prizes and five second-chance draws for $1 million prizes. This Castro Valley man is the fifth and final player to win the second-chance draw.
