LE MARS WOMAN WINS $30,000
July 16, 2008
DES MOINES, Iowa – A northwest Iowa woman recently won the top prize in a favorite Iowa Lottery scratch game.
Jenny Jones of Le Mars won $30,000 playing the “Crossword” (purple newsprint) instant-scratch game. She purchased the winning ticket at MJ’s Sinclair, 1801 Frontage Road in Sioux Center.
Jones claimed her prize at the Iowa Lottery’s regional office in Storm Lake.
Crossword (purple newsprint) is a $3 scratch game. Players win by uncovering at least three complete words in the ticket’s puzzle. If a player uncovers 10 words, he/she wins $30,000. The overall odds of winning in the game are about 1 in 4.
Thirty top prizes of $30,000 are still up for grabs in the game, as well as approximately 45 prizes of $3,000, about 675 prizes of $300 and about 3,300 prizes of $100.
