RED OAK MAN WINS $15,000

DES MOINES, Iowa – A Montgomery County man has won a substantial lottery prize!
Mike Lamar, 52, of Red Oak won $15,000 playing the “Lucky Wheel” instant-scratch scratch game. He purchased the winning ticket at Kum & Go, 710 N. Broadway St. in Red Oak and claimed the prize at Iowa Lottery’s regional office in Council Bluffs.
“I bought two tickets and the second ticket was the $15,000 winner,” Lamar recalled with a chuckle. “I was in my truck [when I scratched the ticket] and I couldn’t get out of my truck. I realized I was shaking…. I couldn’t move. I had to look at it two or three times to believe that I’d actually won it.”
Lamar said he has plans for his prize money already.
“We’ve got to pay bills and the girls are going to get some new school clothes. [It’s] just going to make things easier,” he said.
Lucky Wheel is a $2 scratch game. If a player matches any of their “Numbers” to any “Wheel Number” he or she wins the prize shown below that number.
Lamar claimed the third $15,000 top prize in the game. Seven top prizes are still up for grabs in the game, along with about 360 prizes of $150. The overall odds in the game are 1 in 3.94.
